THE 21st City Council committee on planning, research, innovation, and people’s organization accreditation chaired by Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez has tackled the proposal to establish a Legal Services Division (LSD) in the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

The measure, authored by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, is a strategic initiative to enhance the quality of public service by ensuring that legislative outputs are timely, effective, and more responsive to the needs of the people.

Currently, the review of ordinances and resolutions depends on the City Legal Office, which also carries equally significant responsibilities and mandates.

This has led to delays in processing legislative measures, creating backlogs that affect the Council’s efficiency and productivity.

By creating its own Legal Services Division, the City Council expects to streamline its review process of legislative measures, ensuring that policies enacted are not only legally sound but also procedurally accurate. (JDO/SP)
