Councilor Rodriguez backs inclusive employment at PWD Job and Wellness Fair

IN celebration of National Disability Rights Week, a Job Fair and Health and Wellness Fair was held in Cagayan de Oro City to promote inclusive employment and support the rights and welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share a message of encouragement and solidarity with the city’s PWD sector during the event.

He acknowledged the importance of empowering the PWD community and reaffirmed his support for their rights and capabilities. As committee chair, Councilor Rodriguez reiterated his strong commitment to initiatives that promote inclusive employment and the overall well-being of persons with disabilities.

The event was spearheaded by the Job Placement Bureau - Public Employment Service Office, in partnership with the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office, City Social Welfare and Development – PWD Section, the Department of Labor and Employment Region X, the DOHTRC Gender and Development Committee, and ACE Medical Center.

The annual observance of National Disability Rights Week, held from July 17 to 23, is in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 597, s. 2024, which reaffirms the government’s commitment to upholding the rights of persons with disabilities and fostering a more inclusive society.
