IN observance of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month with the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez joined the 3rd Solidarity Walk: Baktas sa Panaghiusa, Alang sa Kinabuhi, organized by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD).

The walk started at Rodelsa Circle and concluded at the Kiosko Kagawasan Monument with a short program.

In his message, Rodriguez urged the public to care for their families, friends, and themselves, emphasizing the importance of seeking help and taking breaks when life becomes overwhelming.

He also commended the CSWD Psychosocial Unit for their dedicated service and highlighted positive developments in mental health services. These include Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy’s approval of the issuance of an Executive Order creating the Mental Health Board, which will also provide additional budget support for the Psychosocial Unit Division; Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez’s pledge to donate a vehicle; and Councilor Gigi Go’s turnover of a new hotline phone.

Now on its third year, the solidarity walk has grown from 1,000 to nearly 3,000 participants, drawing support from government agencies, private institutions, schools, psychology communities, and advocacy groups.

Other city officials and stakeholders also expressed solidarity during the event, including Councilors Edgar Cabanlas, Des Dahino, and George Christopher Goking, and Acting City Information Officer Jade Adecer. (JDO/SP/Photos from Councilor Rodriguez FB page)
