City to ink MOA with visiting doctors for JRBGH patients

The City Government of Cagayan de Oro will collaborate with accredited visiting specialists to provide professional healthcare services to patients confined at the city-owned J.R. Borja General Hospital.

This, after the 20th City Council during its regular session presided over by City Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez enacted an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the purpose.

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy said that the provision of free and affordable quality healthcare to the city’s constituents has always been a cornerstone of the city’s RISE agenda. Efforts have been made to upgrade JRBGH from a Level 1 to a Level 2 healthcare facility.

However, he said, the personnel and staffing pattern are the main concerns of the JRBGH. To address these, the hospital has been inviting physicians who are fellows from various fields of medical specialties, Mayor Uy added.

Under the agreement, JRBGH-accredited specialist physicians (visiting or full-time) shall be allowed to enter into a contract for professional services with patients seeking confinement to the Pay Ward/Private Rooms. This is provided that all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures shall be performed within the hospital. It is the responsibility of the accredited specialist physician who has admitted patients to do daily rounds and follow up on their patient’s status through the assigned nurse on duty.

For all patients with PhilHealth, professional fees for clinical services provided by the visiting specialist shall be covered by PhilHealth only; no additional fees should be charged. While for patients without PhilHealth and for procedures and consultation/co-management not covered by PhilHealth, the patient shall pay the corresponding professional fee based on PhilHealth rate.
