TO ensure the integrity of the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) enlistment in Cagayan de Oro City, the 21st City Council approved a resolution authorizing the partnership of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the city government, and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for the program’s implementation.
Councilor Paolo Nicolo Gaane, in his special report, emphasized the need for verification mechanisms to ensure that only bona fide Filipino citizens benefit from the YAKAP program.
The PSA’s participation, according to him, will strengthen the registration process and help prevent duplication or fraudulent entries among beneficiaries.
YAKAP is a rebranded and enhanced version of the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (KONSULTA), which aims to provide comprehensive and accessible healthcare to Filipinos through enhanced primary care benefits.
The program includes the Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT), offering up to ₱20,000 worth of outpatient medicines per year and free basic laboratory tests for registered members.
Cagayan de Oro currently has 25 accredited YAKAP centers, enabling wider access to primary care and preventive health services.
The City Council, led by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, likewise approved a separate measure commending PhilHealth Regional Office-10, under the leadership of Vice President Delio A. Aseron II, for their continued partnership in advancing local healthcare delivery in the city. (JBD/SP)
