City Council hails 9 Kagay-anons for winning World Pickleball Championship in Indonesia

THE 21st City Council, headed by City Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, congratulates and commends nine outstanding Kagay-anons for their impressive performances at the recent World Pickleball Championship held in Bali, Indonesia.
During its regular session on Monday, presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Roger G. Abaday, the council passed a resolution recognizing the athletes’ achievements, citing that they have brought honor and pride to the city. The resolution highlighted their multiple medals and awards in various categories, showcasing their excellence on the international stage.
The Kagay-anon medalists are as follows: Mr. Kapitan Chaves (champion-men’s doubles); Mr. Dominic Morilla (2nd runner up); Mr. Juan Paulo Fermin (champion and 1st runner up -men’s singles and doubles); Mr. Ian Malacaman (champion and semifinalist-men’s single and doubles); Ms. Honey Gilles (champion and 1st runner up -women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles); and Ms. Hizen Novi Melendez (champion – women’s doubles and 1st runner up mixed doubles).
Also recognized were Ms. Cyrill Dinle Robeniol (1st runner up – mixed doubles and 2nd runner up-men’s single); Ms. Tiny Denosta (semi-finalist – women’s singles); and Scooby Sia Casiño (champion – mixed doubles).
Councilor Imee Rose P. Moreno, who sponsored the resolution, expressed pride and support for these Kagay-anons, recognizing their hard work and perseverance. “Pickleball is one of the fastest sports in the country, we should be very proud that there are Kagay-anons vying for world pickleball championship title,” she said.
