DURING its 4th regular session, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, the 21st City Council enacted an ordinance aligning the title “College President III,” as defined under Ordinance No. 14564-2023, with the “UC President III” position based on the classification of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for local government units.

The ordinance also stipulates that this role is a key requirement for granting institutional status, as outlined in the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 18, Series of 2022, a policy that sets standards for leadership in local colleges and universities.

In his letter, Mayor Rolando A. Uy emphasized that the proposal received joint approval from the Civil Service Commission Region X (CSC-X), the City Human Resource Management Department, and the City College management. The move aims to comply with CSC-X requirements before the reposting of the school’s vacant president position.

Mayor Uy also emphasized that securing recognition is crucial to the institution’s continued operation and long-term growth, affirming the city’s commitment to promoting quality education and effective governance.

The ordinance, certified as urgent by the mayor, was unanimously approved by the Council. (JAO/SP)
