City Council approves ₱5-M aid for Cebu quake victims

THE 21st City Council, under the leadership of Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, unanimously approved an ordinance appropriating ₱5,000,000 to the Provincial Government of Cebu, following the devastating earthquake that struck Cebu last September 30.

The amount will be sourced from the 30% Quick Response Fund (QRF) of the city’s Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF) in the 2025 Annual Budget to provide the much-needed relief assistance to the victims who were greatly affected by the massive destruction.

According to recent reports, the 6.9-magnitude quake has already claimed over 70 lives, injured hundreds, and caused widespread damage to property and infrastructure. (FDC/SP)
