The 21st City Council, headed by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, has authorized Mayor Rolando A. Uy through an ordinance to sign the detailed subdivision plan that will facilitate the proposed establishment of a new fish landing and port facility in Barangay Bonbon.

The ordinance also authorizes Mayor Uy to apply for the issuance of survey authority by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the fish landing facility covering a parcel of land with an area of 29,436 sq.m.

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy said the proposed facility is expected to streamline the landing and processing of catches, generate employment opportunities, strengthen food security, and contribute to socio-economic development of the city and its coastal communities.

As part of the process, the legislative body also passed a resolution requesting President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to issue a Presidential Proclamation declaring the said parcel of land as alienable and disposable for the establishment and operation of fish landing and fish port facility.
