Cabanlas retains chair of subd and landed estate, ethics committees

COUNCILOR Edgar S. Cabanlas has been reelected as chairperson of both the City Council committees on subdivision and landed estate and on ethics and blue ribbon.


This, following the approval of Resolution No. 15422-2025 during the inaugural session of the 21st City Council presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez.

The committee on subdivision and landed estate is responsible for the study, investigation, and reporting of all matters and measures related to city planning, subdivision, the layout of roads, streets, canals, electric and telephone lines, and related matters and measures pertaining to the acquisition or expropriation of the landed estate for the establishment of housing projects for qualified and deserving poor landless resident, as well as all measures for the promotion and development of human settlement.


On the other hand, the committee on ethics and blue ribbon is tasked to study, investigate, and report to the City Council, in aid of legislation, its findings and recommendations on cases involving graft and corruption, irregular or anomalous transactions, unethical or other immoral conduct, and other violations or infractions of lawful regulations committed by any official or employee of the city government, or any private individual upon verified complaint.


Furthermore, the committee shall also establish and/or implement measures that would safeguard and advance the fundamental rights of all citizens, as determined by truth, justice, and the law. It will also conduct further research, inquiries, and investigations in this regard. (JBDacer/SP)
