TO address the concerns of the residents of Northville Subdivision in Barangay Lumbia, Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas, chair of the City Council committee on subdivision, housing development, and landed estate, conducted an ocular inspection of a proposed subdivision project in the area.

The homeowners opposes the said project because of its main road right-of-way issue and the potential disturbance such as the noise caused by the ongoing construction activities. They also voiced concerns about the actual size of the road.

Cabanlas explained that the developer is only applying for PSDP and is still in the early stage of the project, not for Development Permit (DP).

Changes regarding road dimensions and other infrastructure details are subject to approval by the Department of Housing, Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD), he added.

The councilor also clarified that the City Council’s role is to approve ordinances related to the development project.

“Our function is to approve the ordinance that allows the development to proceed. Matter such as road sizes, and other technical aspects are handled by the DHSUD,” he said.

After thorough review, the committee referred the matter to the committee on laws and rules for appropriate action. (JBD/SP)
