Abbu congratulates Jobstart Philippines’ Skills Training program finishers

Councilor Jose Pepe S. Abbu, Jr. extends his congratulations to the new graduates of the 10-day Life Skills Training program of Jobstart Philippines hosted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in collaboration with the city’s Public Employment Service Office.

Over 100 beneficiaries have finished the skills training program and were given on-the-job training opportunities to showcase their skills through a mini-job fair with the partner companies and employers such as Kumon Kauswagan, Kumon Bulua, Kumon Tomas Saco, Kumon Pueblo, Oro Gadgets, Golden Arches Devt. Corp., and direct hiring companies Gaisano, Ororama, FICCO, and Aspired Inc.

On behalf of City Mayor Rolando A. Uy, Councilor Abbu delivered his inspirational message during the program, saying that the city government is working on increasing the employment rate by attracting more investors in creating new jobs. He expressed hopes that the lessons they have learned will also be used for their own personal growth, not only for the companies where they will be employed.

“I really hope that whatever you learned in the 10-day skills training, use not only in the development of the company but also in developing yourselves because that’s the purpose why you have that life skills development training,” he stressed.

JobStart Philippines is a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that prepares young Filipinos for employment. JobStart does this by providing youth with career coaching, life skills and technical training, and internships with employers.

Partnering with the private sector, JobStart helps employers meet their manpower needs with well-prepared, talented, and enthusiastic young men and women. The LGU-based Public Employment Service Office (PESO) implements the program.
