A total of 653 octogenarian and nonagenarian senior citizens received their cash incentives during the Expanded Centenarian Act Cash Gift Distribution held on October 24, 2025, at the Barangay 40 Covered Court in Cagayan de Oro City.
The initiative was made possible through the National Commission for Senior Citizens (NCSC) Region 10, in partnership with the city’s Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA). The program aims to recognize and reward the invaluable contributions of senior citizens who have reached these remarkable milestones in life.
The cash gift distribution is part of the implementation of the Expanded Centenarian Act, which extends the benefits previously granted only to centenarians (aged 100 and above) to include those reaching 80, 85, 90, and 95 years of age.
Through this measure, the government seeks to provide earlier recognition and financial support to the elderly, ensuring they experience the benefits of the program within their lifetime.
Councilor Gilda O. Go, chair of the City Council committee on senior citizens, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the elderly beneficiaries.
“Let’s celebrate and honor our beloved seniors,” Councilor Go said, emphasizing that their wisdom, hard work, and sacrifices continue to inspire younger generations. (JAO/SP/Photos from Councilor Senior Citizen's Affairs FB Page)
