Achas sits as minority floor leader

COUNCILOR Christian Rustico M. Achas was elected as the new Minority Floor Leader of the 20th City Council.

Through a resolution, the legislative body headed by City Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, during its 66th regular session, unanimously confirmed the election of Councilor Achas as the new minority floor leader, replacing Councilor James K. Judith II.

This after Councilor Jose Pepe S. Abbu, Jr., the assistant minority floor leader, moved to declare the said position vacant, citing that Councilor Judith has already expressed his intention to transfer to the majority bloc.

“We do not have anything against him (Councilor Judith), but we … (as) part of the minority (bloc), … should never sacrifice fiscalizing. That is the job, the duty of the minority,” stressed Councilor Abbu.
