Dahino cmte discuss proposed law providing incentives to deserving barangay tanods

ts recent meeting discussed the proposed ordinance providing incentives for commendable recognition of barangay tanods, in the pursuit of peace and order in their respective local communities.

The ordinance, as proposed by Councilor Enrico D. Salcedo, shall be known as the “Barangay Tanod Commendation Ordinance” of Cagayan de Oro City.

Councilor Salcedo said the laudable and commendable actions of barangay authorities for the promotion, enforcement and maintenance of peace and order in their areas deserve commendation and recognition so that they may motivate and inspire others to do the same.

The proposed law provides that barangay tanods shall receive P50,000 as cash incentive in recognition of their performance and achievements, and a plaque of appreciation stating their outstanding accomplishments. It provides that the city government shall allocate an annual funding for this purpose.

Councilor Dahino said the criteria for the selection of deserving barangay tanods will be studied further.
