As city’s vies for its second Nutrition Award Gaane welcomes NET validation team

COUNCILOR Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, chair of the City Council committee on health and health insurance, and the City’s Nutrition Committee warmly welcomed the National Evaluation Team (NET) during its visit to the city to conduct its validation, as the city is vying for Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) second year maintenance.

It may be recalled that the city was declared a first year CROWN maintenance awardee last year after the validation visit of the NET on June 29-30, 2021, and National Nutrition Council (NNC) Technical Committee meeting on October 27, 2021.

Councilor Gaane acknowledged the presence of the team led by Daniel G. Salunga together with Dr. Marivic F. Samson of NNC and Brian Richard G. Diaz of NNC-10.

The lady councilor expressed her support to the city’s nutrition programs and initiatives for the welfare of the city.

She highlighted that an ordinance was enacted institutionalizing the city’s engagement of the Barangay Health Workers (BHW) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS).

“This is the city’s way of giving back something for our volunteers for their untiring cooperation in delivering health programs,” she cited.

Gaane encouraged the public to exert more effort in achieving a healthy city by promoting the continued progress of the city.

“A city with good nutrition practices and food security is a healthy city. Let’s, therefore, go out and win this thing for our beloved city,” she expressed. (SP/JBDacer)
