City to avail of financing grant from INREMP for spillway project

THE city government intends to avail of a financing grant from the Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management Project (INREMP) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for the construction of the spillway project at Sitio Laguilay in Barangay Balubal.

Through a resolution, the 18th City Council during its regular session Monday, July 9, legislators authorized Mayor Oscar S. Moreno to apply, negotiate and avail of the grant and to undertake other measures necessary for the effective implementation of the project.

The P3.7 million project aims to give an easy access and provide passage to farmers and moving vehicles in crossing the Agusan River and vice-versa and to improve the delivery of basic social and health services. It is also envisioned to increase economic activities in the area, The Power learned.

The spillway project at Sitio Laguilay is one of the components of the INREMP for the proposed development of Barangay Balubal, Purok 1 to Sitio Laguilay Access Road.

The Power learned that the project is among the rural infrastructure facilities identified in the city’s Watershed Management and Investment (WMI) Plan, which is envisioned to address watershed management issues and problems.

The committee on laws and rules chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya favorably endorsed the legislations.
