Lao invites all sectors to attend public hearing on rela matrix

COUNCILOR Teodulfo E. Lao, chair of the City Council committee on public utilities, is inviting all sectors to attend the public hearing on Friday, April 20, on the fare matrix of motorela as provided for under Ordinance No. 11512-2009, as amended by Ordinance No. 11670-2010.

This is in view of the petition of the Federation of Motorela Operators and Drivers in Cagayan de Oro (FEMODCO), Inc. for the adjustment of motorela fare.

The association proposed a regular fare of P8 if the price of gasoline is P50.01 to P60.00 per liter; P7, P40.01 to P50.00; P6 if the price is from P30.01 to P40.00; P5, P20.01 to P30.00 and P4, if it is priced at P10.01 to P20.00 with corresponding discounts for high school, college students, senior citizens and elementary students.

Councilor Lao said the committee will first hear from the riding public and from all sectors before it will act on the petition.

He is urging barangay chairmen, youth organizations, members of the media, Oro Chamber, labor group, and academe to attend the public hearing, which will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the City Council Session Hall.

The committee started discussions on the petition of the federation during its meeting last week with the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA), and other concerned departments and offices.
