Lao cmte asks COWD to fast track bidding of water system project at Villaflora Subd

CITING the urgency of addressing the water needs of Villa Flora residents, the City Council committee on public utilities chaired by Councilor Teodulfo E. Lao adopted a resolution requesting the Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) to fast track the bidding of the water system project in the area.

This, after the committee discussed the matter with the COWD, barangay chairman of Cugman, and association officials, among others.

During the meeting on Friday, the president of the homeowners association informed the committee that portions of the subdivision have no water supply. He said there are also security issues as residents fight during the distribution of water in the area.

“Dili na maayo ang buot sa silingan mag-away sa hose sa supply sa COWD,” he cited.

A representative of the COWD said a P1.7 million water system project will be implemented in the subdivision. However, he said, the project is still up for bidding.

Councilor Lao said what is important is that the program of works of the project has already been prepared.

“What is only needed is the bidding,” he stressed.

After the bidding, the project is expected to take off in two months, said the COWD.

It was learned that the rehabilitation of the water system at Phase II at the subdivision is also expected to take place next month.

As a palliative measure, Councilor Lao requested the City Fire District to assist the residents by delivering water to the subdivision.
