Task Force Coliform created

IN aid of legislation, the City Council as a Committee of the Whole presided over by Councilor Maria Lourdes Gaane created a task force to conduct an investigation regarding alleged leakage at the sanitary landfill in Sitio Buracan, Barangay Pagalungan.

This is in response to the special report of Councilor Nadya Emano-Elipe, who quoted media reports that the sanitary landfill is causing pollution of the river near Barangays Pagalungan and San Simon.

The Committee of the Whole appointed Councilor Suzette Magtajas-Daba as chair of the task force with the representative of Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as vice-chair.

Members of the task force are representatives of the City Health Office, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Xavier University, Liceo de Cagayan de Safer River Foundation, Solid Waste Management Division of City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), Department of Health (DOH) and barangay chairmen of San Simon, Pagalungan, Iponan, Pagatpat, Canitoan and Baikingon.
