MODE OF TRANSMITION

Councilor Gaane said HIV is transmitted in three ways, through unprotected sexual contact usually “males-having-sex-with-males” (MSM), blood components (sharing of needles or blood transfusion) and transplacental and when a pregnant woman is infected with HIV and AIDS, that was left untreated.

Councilor Gaane is urging those who have this kind of lifestyle and symptoms to avail of the free screening at the City Health Office under Dr. Joey Retuya.

“Once you’re confirmed as HIV positive, naa sa Cagayan de Oro atong treatment hub, naa sa Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).At least lifetime ang treatment”, said Gaane.

Gaane assured that the consultation is free and confidential. (JBD)
