Calizo cmte tackles reopening of NMPSA firing range

THE City Council committee on public order and safety chaired by Councilor Romeo V. Calizo during its recent meeting discussed the proposed reopening of Bays 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the Northern Mindanao Pistol, Shotgun and Archery, Inc. (NMPSA) firing range in Barangay Bulua.

The Philippine National Police-Regional Civil Security Unit (PNP-RCSU) already inspected the area and found the bays to have complied with all safety requisites set by the agency.

The reinstallation of metal targets at Bays 5, 6, 7 and 8 was also recommended considering these bays have long target ranges.

A representative of the Barangay Council of Bulua expressed no objection to the recommendation. He, however, requested that no metal targets be installed at Bays 1 to 4 since these are short-range target areas.

This was affirmed by the NMPSA representative, citing that based on its first assessment, these bays are unsafe for shooters.

With this, Calizo asked the RCSU to consider the request of the barangay and the concurrence of the NMPSA.

All the bays from 1 to 8 may now be opened but only bays 5 to 9 can be installed with the metal targets, the councilor further pointed out.
