Expro of lot for proposed fire station project pushed
THE City Council committee on subdivision and landed estate chaired by Councilor Dometilo Acenas Jr. is now reviewing the barangay resolution of Camaman-an requesting City Mayor Moreno and the City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy to expropriate a 250-square meter lot at J.R. Borja Street Extention for the proposed Bureau of Fire Protection Fire Station.
According to the barangay officials, one of the lots owned by the Montecarlo Development Corporation is the subject of Barangay Resolution No. 221-2017 for a 10-meter wide road-right-of-way, which covers an area of 337 square meters, as approved by the City Engineering Office.
The adjacent lot, also owned by the company, which contains 250 square meters more or less is enough space for a BFP Fire Station, The Power learned.
Officials added that Barangay Camaman-an already experienced two fire incidents. Most of the houses in the area are built with lumber and other light materials.
A fire station that is strategically located is badly needed for an immediate response in case of fire, they cited.
Councilors Eric D. Salcedo, vice-chair, Jay R. Pascual, Reuben R. Daba and Maria Lourdes Gaane are members of the committee.
