Drug testing continues at City Hall

ANOTHER round of drug testing was conducted yesterday at City Hall. This time, it was for the employees of the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO). The said activity took place on the 2nd Floor of the Legislative Building from 8 o’clock in the morning until past noon, The Power learned.

It may be recalled that the 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy enacted Ordinance No. 13292-2017, promoting a drug-free workplace in the city of Cagayan de Oro through the conduct of mandatory drug tests to all officials and employees in the city government.

The vice mayor and city councilors were the first to undergo the drug tests, followed by the personnel of the City General Services Office (CGSO).

Authored by Councilor Edna “Inday” Dahino and Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, chair of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), the ordinance underscores the city’s commitment, support and participation to anti-drug abuse policies, programs and projects by ensuring that its own workplace is a drug-free institution.

It can be recalled that the city allocated P1.2 million for the holding of the mandatory drug tests. The amount is being utilized for the purchase of medical testing kits and materials and laboratory expenses for the 6,119 personnel of the city government. (JAO)
