Dads thank public, private support in crafting Scholarship Code of 2018


CAGAYAN de Oro City legislators headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy expressed the city’s gratitude to various government and private individuals from schools and associations for their valuable contribution and painstaking effort in the crafting of the City Scholarship Code of 2018.


In a resolution, the City Council acknowledged and thanked Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Director Zenaida Gersana and Rose Mae Lumasag of CHED-10, Lolita Usaraga of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Janry Colonia of the Department of Education (DepEd), Leo Valdez, Rex Acain and Ariel Mercado of TESDA and Monsignor Rey Monsanto of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro.


Legislators, likewise, thanked Director Glenda Orlanes, OSFA-XU, Maria Victoria B. Trinidad of RCE-XU and Eva Alonsabe, Corazon Laleian of Liceo de Cagayan University, Sis. Ma. Mae Macrohon of Lourdes College, Guadalupe Salas of Capitol University (CU), Albert Alonzo of Cagayan de Oro College, Cecilo Pacana, PTA president of MOGHS, among others, for all the support they have given for the City Council to come up with the Scholarship Code.


The resolution was filed by Councilor Suzette Magtajas Daba, chair of the committee on education.


Authored by Councilor Daba and Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya, the Scholarship Code is in line with the thrust of the city government to facilitate the creation of a quality workforce through a variety of scholarship grants to deserving students.


Scholarship grants that may be availed by qualified scholars are Performance-Based Type, College Financial Assistance Type, Income-Based Type, Technical-Vocational Assistance Type, Research Grants and Graduate Course.
