Dads extend discount period to taxpayers affected by Vinta

THE 18th City Council during its 70th regular session presided by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, approved an ordinance extending the 20-percent prompt payment discount of Real Property Tax (RPT) from December 21, 2017 to January 31, 2018 to taxpayers who were affected by Tropical Storm Vinta that struck Cagayan de Oro.
This is in consideration of the representation by the affected taxpayers for the extension to avail of the RPT prompt payment discount subject to a barangay certification as flood victim, and updated payment of the RPT for CY 2017.
In the letter to the 18th City Council, through Councilor George S. Goking, chair of the committee on ways and means, the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc., represented by its President Robertino Pizarro, pleaded for such consideration.
He cited that last year was a perilous year to the businessmen as the community suffered several setbacks and drawbacks from natural calamities to unrest brought about by several armed groups.
The ordinance was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on ways and means and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors George Goking and Ian Mark Nacaya, respectively. (EF)
