This, as Mayor Oscar Moreno together with Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, Councilors Maria Lourdes Gaane and Reuben R. Daba led the groundbreaking ceremony of the project on Wednesday.

Councilor Gaane, chair of the City Council committee on health and sanitation and health insurance, said the 25-bed capacity Lumbia Hospital will serve patients from the city’s southern barangays and neighboring municipalities.

The medical facility will also serve as a satellite hospital and will decongest the 100-bed of the J.R.Borja General Hospital, which serves 200 patients per day, she said.

“The residents of Lumbia and other hinterland barangays will no longer proceed to the city hospital for medical needs”, she stressed.

Based on the reports, the hospital will still not cover surgical operations. Patients who require surgery will have to be referred to the city hospital. (JBD)
