Daba endorses pact with DA for forage technology project
COUNCILOR Annie Daba, chair of the City Council committee on agriculture and fisheries, is supporting the implementation of the Forage Technology Demonstration Project Livestock Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the city.
The MOA covers the provision of one unit Silage Chopper to strengthen forage conservation of the local livestock farmers, increase their competitiveness, livelihood opportunities and income.
The DA is implementing the program as a strategy of realizing the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Plan (AFMP) and is willing to provide supplementary equipment through grant to qualified LGUs, The Power learned.
PROVISIONS
Pursuant to the proposed MOA, the DA-RFO-10 shall conduct bidding and procure the brand new Silage Chopper, turn it over to the city government and conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation to ascertain the progress of the project.
For its part, the city shall use the equipment for Forage Technology Development and provide a garage to properly secure the unit. The city shall operate the equipment in accordance with its objectives and purpose and maintain a detailed logbook of the equipment operations, among others.
The committee reviewed and endorsed the proposed MOA to the Office of Mayor Oscar Moreno for his recommendation.
