Judges thank city govt for support, accommodation

REGIONAL Trial Court Executive Judge Dennis Alcantar and MTCC Executive Judge Cesar Merlas on Monday thanked the City Council for its support and accommodation for the past two years.

After fire gutted down the Hall of Justice building in 2015, the legislative body allowed the courts of the RTC and MTCC to use the offices, conference rooms and session hall to ensure that trial of cases and administration of justice will not be delayed.

According to Judge Alcantar, the Supreme Court approved on Monday their transfer to the new Hall of Justice Building at the Gold Ridge, Masterson Avenue near SM uptown.

He expressed gratitude to the city for the hospitality and patience extended to them during their stay at City Hall.

For his part, Judge Merlas said the seven city courts in Cagayan de Oro have been a partner of the City Council and the local government in enforcing measures passed by the council especially in relation to peace and order.

He said he is hoping that the partnership between the judiciary and the city will continue.

“We assure the city of Cagayan de Oro that we will continue to serve and function as members of the judiciary,” he added.
