Gan hails move of president to make CdeO a metropolitan center

COUNCILOR Leon Gan Jr. said the City Council should thank President Duterte for moves to make Cagayan de Oro a metropolis.

The councilor said he heard President Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement that Cagayan de Oro City will become the 4th metropolis in the country, following the ranks of Metro Davao, Metro Cebu and Metro Manila.

Consequently, the president deserves our utmost appreciation because finally, Cagayan de Oro City will become a metropolitan under his administration, Gan stressed.

Gan said this has been the dream of the previous City Council, legislators and city officials. He expressed hopes that Cagayan de Oro Metropolis will be realized soon, after being included in the Philippine Development Plan.

It may be recalled that last week, the City Council adopted a resolution urging the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and the Regional Development Council (RDC-10) to spearhead the initiative for the establishment of Metropolitan Cagayan de Oro. (EF)
