Dads act on conversion of streets to nat’l roads
THE conversion of city roads into national roads is in the offing.
The City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy acted adopted a resolution endorsing the conversion of some city roads, which includes the primary arterial road (Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road) as proposed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd District Engineering Office.
It was learned that the DPWH will also include the provision of drainage system in the development and maintenance of said roads.
City roads to be converted into national roads include Don Velez Street-Macasandig-Indahag-Bukidnon Road (10 km); Don Velez Street-Carmen (Pelaez Bridge)-Airport Road; Jct Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan City (BCIR)-Osmeña Extension-CDO Port Road; Jct Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan City (BCIR)-Agora-CDO Port Road; Jct Airport Road-Upper Balulang-Macasandig-Don Velez Street.
Also to be converted are Don Velez Street-JR Borja-Butuan City-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan City road, among others.
City Engineer Rolando Pacuribot informed the committee on public works chaired by Councilor Zaldy Ocon that the conversion of roads is geared towards improvement and development of much needed roads of the citizenry of Cagayan de Oro.
The City Engineer’s Office welcomed and favorably endorsed the proposal, adding that the city can now focus on the remaining development of 487.7 kilometers of various roads in the urban and rural barangays.
The resolution was endorsed by the committees on public works and on laws and rules chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya.
