SP looks into status of city’s tax collections

THE 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, through the committee on ways and means chaired by Councilor George S. Goking, will hold a series of meetings in relation to the collections of taxes and fees, on billboard fees and on the status of collections from Real Property Taxes (RPT).

The committee convened on Wednesday with representatives of concerned departments and offices to discuss these and other concerns, to strengthen the city’s collection campaign.

Councilor Goking stressed that income generating departments should be supported by the city so that they will be able to strictly implement the revenue code and pertinent ordinances.

It may be recalled that the committee created an adhoc committee headed by Arch. Maria Concepcion Alcantara, OIC of the Office of the Building Official (OBO), to look into the collection of billboard fees and the collections of the city’s share from PEZA registered locators.

Councilor Goking said, discussions on PEZA concerns will be tackled by the committee on trade and commerce, which he also chairs.
