Dads want to ensure implementation of ordinances in Cag de Oro City

COUNCILOR Teodulfo Lao on Monday, July 3, called for the creation of an oversight committee that will look into the implementation of all ordinances enacted by the City Council.

This is in response to the special report of Councilor Nadya Emano Elipe that some of the city’s athletes winning medals in national and international competitions have not received cash incentives due to them as provided for under an existing ordinance.

Councilor Lao said there must be a body that should look into all ordinances enacted by the legislative body from the past to the present to review whether these have been implemented.

Majority Floor Leader Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya said the creation of an oversight committee is enshrined in the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Local Government Code. He added that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) issued circulars on the matter.

“We should pursue the IRR …” he cited, adding that a feedback system through the City Council’s own Legislative Tracking System should be pursued.

This was referred to the committee on finance chaired by Councilor Edna M. Dahino.
